Jan Depreter Performs Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s Tarantella, Op. 87a | Live Concert Recording on Gufra UD

Watch Belgian classical guitar virtuoso Jan Depreter perform Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s iconic Tarantella, Op. 87a live on the Gufra UD Double Top cedar guitar. Experience pure dynamics and concert hall projection.

Fiery Italian Virtuosity Meets Modern Double-Top Dynamics

We are excited to present the first official live concert recording from Belgian classical guitar master Jan Depreter’s recent international tour: Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco’s masterpiece, Tarantella, Op. 87a.

Written in 1936 for Andrés Segovia, Tarantella remains one of the most demanding and dramatic works in the 20th-century classical guitar repertoire. Driven by a relentless 6/8 meter, rapid scalar runs, and explosive rasgueado passages, the piece tests both the artist’s stamina and the instrument’s speed of response.

The Performance & The Instrument

In this live hall recording, Jan Depreter pushes the boundaries of tempo and dynamic contrast. To project every subtle articulation and powerful accent through the hall without losing warmth, Jan performed on the Gufra UD (Ultra-Dynamic) Cedar Double-Top.

The Gufra UD’s advanced soundboard engineering provides immediate note attack, rich cedar depth, and exceptional headroom—allowing the dizzying chromatic runs and thunderous bass rasgueados to ring out with sparkling clarity.
